Julie Freund’s work reduces the landscapes along the Maine coast to carefully constructed abstract images through the use of color, light and shape. In her more recent work, she captures the essence of those landscapes – the image that initially captures the eye and excites the soul. She explores the emotion of the image by varying the amounts of those elements in juxtaposition to each other. As a result of this process, her paintings typically evoke joy through her interpretation of beauty and her celebration of light. |
